SCHOOL CLOSING

Today the school is closed, therefore there is no official practice (including Shot Put at 5:30).
It is important that you consider exactly what it is you want to do on Friday and bring that information to the table on Thursday and suggest it to the leadership of the team.
It is also equally important that you do a physical activity today, which includes doing your warmup drills. This could involve shoveling snow or running around in your neighborhood after the streets are plowed.
But most of all BE SAFE! Don't take any ridiculous chances as you are more important to the team healthy than injured.
USE TODAY TO SHOW WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED THUS FAR!

HURDLES AND SHOT PUT

We will now be doing HURDLES on MONDAY NIGHTS and SHOT PUT on WEDNESDAY NIGHTS. The switch is due to the fact that we have someone that can attend on that night!

Tuesday, December 1, 2009

FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE

Good day by most accounts. We'll continue to work on drills, drills and more drills. There are some folks that were notably absent. We need to find out if they are going to attend or simply "take time off".

You all know that those that want to be successful in the Spring NEED to participate in the Winter. Those that start out in the Spring are already three months behind and can't get caught up.

MOUNT EVERETT NEW ENGLANDS BOUND

Mount Everett finished third at the Massachusetts State High School Championships in the triple jump going 36 feet 8 1/2 inches! This is her first endeavor at New Englands and well deserved!

Primetime finished 7th in the Javelin and the 4 x 400 meter relay team established another new school record (4:06.99): Led by Velma, Killer, Boomayay and Real Deal. This now means that East Longmeadow's 4 x 4 is amongst the five fastest teams in Western Mass. history!!!

Sunday, May 31, 2009

THREE RECORDS FALL

It started off with Boomayay's magnificent run in the 400 low hurdles. It continued with Hackensack finally realizing her destiny along with Bootstrap, Mack Daddy, and the hard working Twice As. It ended with Velma to Killer to Boomayay (again) and finally to Real Deal.

Three records smashed. Killer bringing home the "bling", and Primetime a huge topic of conversation. Nine people... NINE are going to the states. This ties a team record, but with a twist...more people are competing in more events than ever at the Commonwealth's biggest meet.

Let's not forget that Field Day is Tuesday!

LADYSPARTANS 3RD (AGAIN)

Try as we will, it has proven difficult to finish above 3rd. We ARE better than this. It's time we decided to DO it. Practice is at NOON Monday at the high school. We have to come to a determination of events for Saturday before the deadline.

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

PRIMETIME DOES IT AGAIN!

Let's just keep setting new school records in the Javelin, shall we? The oldest school record in Ladyspartan history took still another hit, this time to the tune of 115 feet 8 inches. Not a bad performance for Senior Day. Other Seniors having great days included Hackensack in the mile, Twice As in the 800, and Big Show in the discus.

Saturday, May 9, 2009

CHANGE IN SCHEDULE

The Amherst Meet shall be only a Tri-Meet. Holyoke was forced out of it due to their grueling schedule. Since we are obligated to race them, we are working on making this up on FRIDAY, MAY 15 along with (hopefully) Palmer.

Please adjust your schedules accordingly for this possibility. Nothing is written in stone until Mr. Bean and the Holyoke AD approve.

Friday, May 1, 2009

Ladyspartans Prevail in Tri-Meet

In their first ever visit to Belchertown, the Ladyspartans were led by Killer's 5-2 high jump, win in the 400 and Mount Everett's triple event wins. Thriller took the javelin and Big Show took the shot.

Saturday, April 18, 2009

GOOD DAY AT STEELE'S

MOUNT EVERETT IS IN!

ONE YEAR AWAY:LADYSPARTANS 5TH

The Ladyspartans took one giant step towards becoming THE power in the West. Led by Mount Everett's 17-4 in Long Jump, Killer's 43.87 in the 300 and Real Deal's 1:47.91 in the 600, they secured 5th place overall. VELMA, KILLER, BOOMAYAY & REAL DEAL also lowered the school record in the 4 x 400 to 4:16.89. Next up we'll be shorthanded in the States, but this cannot happen again (wouldn't happen in basketball or soccer now, would it?).

Sunday, February 8, 2009

MT.EVERETT SHINES

17-1 1/4 in the Long Jump! The Ladyspartans took home second place at the ELITE RELAYS today. Adding to the team total was Boomayay and Scurry!

Saturday, February 7, 2009

LEAGUE CHAMPIONS AGAIN!

The 2009 Ladyspartans successfully defended their League Championship by defeating both New Leadership and Athol. KILLER ran impressively in the 300 meters and won the high jump.

THE WIZ eclipsed Chuckles in the Freshman 1000 winning her heat and shaving 2 seconds off of the best distance runner in EL history's time. Several other folks also had fine performances: AXEL FOLEY in the high jump (second day trying it first day on the job). MACK DADDY in the 1000. HAWAIIAN PUNCH in the 600. DOLLY in the two mile. SIDESHOW BOB in the mile (finally breaking the barrier). GIRL SCOUT (pr) in the shot put. Even BAND CAMP looked good in the mile and may have found a home.

The future looks good. It'll sure be nice to have REAL DEAL and GREEN LANTERN back in the mix. We've shown our depth.

SENIOR NIGHT turned out to be a success: We thank first our CAPTAINS for their continued efforts as well as the supporting cast of Seniors...the season has NOW just begun!!! Let the games begin!

Sunday, January 25, 2009

NEW SCHOOL RECORD!

With our ranks depleted and Seniors having to leave for the Semi, the FRESHMAN stepped up and filled our ranks. HAWAIIAN PUNCH stepped into the 4 x 400 to help establish a new school record (4:20.76)! AXEL FOLEY jumped into the 4 x 50 shuttle to help earn her squad a 5th place finish and CSI entered the long jump team with MOUNT EVERETT and BOOMAYAY to take victory away from everyone! KAZBAH led off the season's best 4 x 200 relay team (1:51.31) that ended up second.

The High Jump team secured sixth place, led by KILLER, REAL DEAL and HOMIE. The 4 x 800 meter relay had the second best time in school history (10:33.30) with PUNCH and THE WIZ helping out TWICE AS and HACKENSACK.

East Longmeadow finished 6th overall against 42 schools throughout the state!

WIN VS. CHICOPEE

The Ladyspartans won in convincing fashion against Chicopee. In less than 15 hours they have to turn around and run in the State Class Relays. REST UP.

We are looking to get a nutritionist in on Thursday night to talk to parents about foods and what will give the best maximum performances for everyone in every event. His name is Bruce Homstead and he has worked with many Olympic level athletes. Details to follow soon.

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

WIN VS. CATHEDRAL

EL moved to 4-0 with an impressive 80-15 win against the Panthers. Mount Everett led the way in the 55 and long jump while Killer took the high jump (5 feet). Hackensack ran an astounding 5:50 in the mile (the only person to beat her this year is all-state Kristen Veit). Meanwhile Thriller took a thrilling race in the hurdles and Real Deal conquered the 600. Next up on the agenda is outdoor D2 contender Mohawk as well as a strong and improved Mahar team.

Sunday, January 11, 2009

BIG WIN

The Ladyspartans held off a powerful Holyoke Catholic team on Friday 52-43. Without a doubt it was a team effort. Hackensack's second place finishes and personal bests in both the 600 and the 1000 proved to be the difference, even though the meet came down to the 4 x 400.

EL had a magnificent SWEEP in the 300 with Real Deal, Killer and Velma taking 1,2,3 overall and Boomayay taking 5th overall. Full Force threw a personal best 29' in the shot followed by leading scorer Mount Everett's(first overall in the 55 and 16-5 in the long) 28-4. The change was certainly a surprise to the Gaels.

We still have a few tricks up our sleeve in the upcoming meets...stay tuned.

VACATION MEETS

Great performances by many during this time. Scurry had her own personal best in the Long Jump, as did Boomayay. Thriller had her second best ever time in the highs (as did Boomayay). Hackensack ran a tremendous 600. Real Deal tied her personal best in the high jump. A few rookies had pretty impressive times in their events (Kasper (55), Foley (300), Wolfenden (1000) to name a few). Tide took 5 seconds off of her time in the mile. Flojo, Real Deal, Dolly and Killer placed 4th in the 4 x 400.

Time to get ready for Holyoke Catholic and Pioneer on Friday.
