5th Bloomfield Invitational - Warm Weather Helps Record Setters...(Apr 6, 2008-10:00am-By Ron Knapp) The decision by Meet Director Garfield White to change the start time from 10am to 12-noon helped several performers as twelve meet records were set or tied at the 2008 Bloomfield Invite on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Bloomfield High School. The assault on the record books started with Kristen Johnson of Bloomfield as she won the 100m Hurdles in 15.61. The Boys 100m Dash record of 10.74 set by Myles Bradley of NFA in 2005 was one of three meet records broken by Bloomfield sprinter Dominic Smith as he won with a time of 10.60. Smith also set meet records in winning performances in the 400m Dash (49.60) and the 200m Dash (22.09). More record performances in boys events came from Josh Walton of AI Prince Tech in the 300m Hurdles (41.00), Alex Zarka of Farmington in the 1600m Run (4:32.73), Adam Bolton of Naugatuck in the Pole Vault (12'6") and a record tying performance of 6'4" in the High Jump by Troy Candler of Bulkeley. In Girls events, Erica Hines of Enrico Fermi ran to a meet record of 5:13.80 in the 1600m Run while Tori Pisco of Naugatuck set a record in the 800m Run with a time of 2:33.15. Record efforts in other girls events were provided by Keyrah Williams of Naugatuck in the Discus Throw (103'9") and a tie for the High Jump record of 5'4" by Jasmine Cribb of Naugatuck.
Other event winners for girls included Tasha Etim (100m Dash) and Tina Thomas (200m), both from Classical Magnet, Whitney Holder of Middletown (400m), Jocelyn Kane of East Longmeadow MA (3200m), Kim Kyne of William Hall (300m Hurdles), Koreen Shoham of William Hall (Pole Vault), Miriam Mboya of New Leadership MA (Long Jump), Javhan Bowie of New Leadership MA (Triple Jump), Rachel Morgan of William Hall (Shot Put) and Jenna Rossi of Middletown (Javelin). In Girls relay events, Enrico Fermi captured the 4x100m, Bloomfield won the 4x400m and Naugatuck was first in the 4x800m.
