LAST TIME I TAKE A PICTURE!

This is the Buddster accepting the 2018 Coach of the Year Award from the Mass State Track and Field Coaches Association.

For once I am allowing a picture or two of me. This WON'T happen again..

Here is the caption on the program:

"When you have an AD like Kevin Magee who supports your efforts as well as creativity, you couple that with terrific counterparts in Matt Sullivan and Brendan Abad. Then you add a few part time assistants that are former Spartans (Lauren Kennedy, Elisabeth Cooke and Scott Besser). Sprinkle in specialist coach Gary Gorman with a phenomenal trainer in Diane Savacool; all you need then are great kids and team leaders that are DEDICATED TO FINISHING FIRST."

As an added bonus you get to see me with one of my children.

This one goes nicely with my other three...(no brag, just fact)

FLASHBACK PHOTO

You mean Coach Budd, actually DID run? He WON an award too? Yeah...RIGHT!

THREE TIME COACH OF THE YEAR: THANK YOU LADYSPARTANS!

The sheer delight of having the Legendary Dick Atkinson and the Incredible Lou Tozzi present me with this award makes the circle complete.

Lou Tozzi was the person that got me totally involved with the MSTCA and becoming an E-Board member. He is a huge advocate of youth sports, particularly Track and Field and is a no nonsense type of guy that puts on clinics and meets each year. As the James Bond theme goes "Nobody does it better".

I met Dick Atkinson in 1974 while running Cross Country. He is the most popular coach ever from Western Mass. When I first started coaching at the high school level, he was one of my opponents, but you would never know it. Always the gentleman and always supportive. I have learned so much from him including the ability to give instructions to runners in competition from anywhere in the arena and they KNOW it's me!
